(If you would like prayers for friends or family members, please first check with that person that they are happy for their name to be mentioned in the weekly Newsletter)

Holy Angels

Wanted:  for the new social gathering space which is being developed outside at the back of St. Mary’s Room and in the top end of the Priest’s Garden:  one or two Table Benches.  This new social gathering area has attracted the attention of our youth group and will also be a bonus for Parishioners booking St. Mary’s Room for Christening and Wedding Celebrations.  If you have an unwanted table bench or know where we can get one at a favourable rate, please contact Rita or Father David.

Please feel free to use the Blessed Sacrament area behind the Altar as a place of Quiet and Private Prayer after Mass.

A Daffodil bulb has been planted around the illuminated Cross on the mound in front of Holy Angels Church in memory of each of those whose names were handed in for November Holy Souls.  Hopefully the daffodils will flower at Easter this year and help us to remember the resurrection of all our loved ones who have died.

Music at 11am Sunday Mass and for Easter

Our Music Co-ordinator, Christina and Organist, Elena are keen to reorganise the Choir-Singing Group at Ash.  They would like to plan some informal practices once a fortnight at 10am before the Sunday Mass.  The plan to offer coffee when you arrive and for these practices to be an opportunity for people who like singing but may  not be able to read music to meet and get to know others in our parish with similar interests.  There will also be an opportunity to have some input into the Music that is chosen.  With the practice before Mass you can plan for holidays and family visits and not have to worry about missing a practice.  If God has given you a good voice singing in Church for the Glory of God it is a great way to thank him.  All ages welcome, see Elena on the Organ or Christina after Mass any Sunday.

Father David’s Message

We offer our condolences to our Parish Secretary, Rita and her Mother and family for the sad loss of a much loved Father, Husband and Grandfather, Edd Turnell.  May he rest in peace.

A Reflection

Once in a while we meet a gentle person.  Gentleness is a virtue hard to find in a society that admires toughness and roughness.  We are encouraged to get things done and to get them done fast, even when people get hurt in the process.  Success, accomplishment and productivity count.  But the cost is high. There is no place for gentleness in such a milieu.

Gentle is the one who does “not break the crushed reed, or snuff the faltering wick” (Matthew 12.20).  Gentle is the one who is attentive to the strengths and weaknesses of the other and enjoys being together more than accomplishing something.  A gentle person treads lightly, listens carefully, looks tenderly, and touches with reverence.  A gentle person knows that true growth requires nurture not force.  Let’s dress ourselves with gentleness.  In our touch and often unbending world our gentleness can be a vivid reminder of the presence of God among us.

Message from Rita

Father David has very kindly given me the opportunity to personally thank all the many Parishioners from both Holy Family and Holly Angels who have sent me so many cards, letters, emails and called into the Parish Office to offer their condolences at this very sad time following the loss of my dear Dad.

My Father has been very unwell for many months in fact since last June when he was first taken ill and was in and out of hospital most of last year.  I think myself and our family all knew that sadly Christmas would be his last spent with us all.  Although I realise that many of you have gone through and indeed may be going thorough the same heartache of seeing a loved one grow weaker, still nothing prepares any of us for the loss and the pain we feel when they have finally left us. For my dear Dad his passing was a happy release for him in his suffering and in fact it was what we had all prayed for at the end that the Lord would take him home to be with him where there would no longer be any pain and suffering only love, joy and PEACE.

Thank you all for your love, prayers and support throughout both my Father’s illness and his final passing which  has given me the strength to return to the Parish Office and what better place could I be working in than God’s own house where I feel enveloped in a blanket of love and Peace.

I would also like to thank Father David for supporting me during this difficult time.
