Information

Confirmation:

We have eleven of our young people who will be taking their Confirmation on Friday, 5th June at St. Joan of Arc Church in Farnham. Please remember them in your prayers at this very important time in their lives. We pray that the Holy Spirit will guide them as they go out into the world and commence their Christian faith journey.

First Holy Communions: Our children from Holy Family Church will be taking their First Holy Communion Next Saturday, 6th June at 1.00pm. Pictures of the children are displayed at the back of both Churches. Please pray for them all at this very special time. The children from Holy Angels will be taking their First Holy Communion on Saturday, 13th June at 1.00pm.
Father Robin will be available for Confession before both Masses.

Youth: Our Youth Group leaders and six of our young people are spending three weeks in Tanzania this summer helping at the Karibu Nyumbani orphanage. The children are in need of good quality second hand shoes. Have any of our smallest parishioners just grown out of their shoes? We would welcome donations and, from next weekend, there will be a collection box in both churches. The boys are aged from 4-6 years and the girls from 1-6 years. Children’s clothes and small, light games and story books would also be appreciated. Thank you, Sally Brennan. Thank you to those parishioners who have already kindly donated some of their shoes for which we are very grateful.

Festival of Corpus Christi and Carpet of Flowers: Arundel Cathedral next Wednesday 3 June 9.30am-8pm and Thursday 4 June 9.30am-5.30pm with Solemn Mass and Procession to Arundel Castle at 5.30pm

A & B Diocesan Golden Jubilee – Sunday 5th July This is a once in a life time opportunity to celebrate the anniversary of our Diocese with our new Bishop. Coaches will be provided for this event. A list is available at the back of both Churches for people to sign if they are wishing to travel by coach.

We can confirm that one coach has now been booked for this event and we still have 20 seats available.

Installation of our New Bishop

It was a great blessing to have Archbishop Peter Smith ordain me to the priesthood, but there was a also a sense of absence, with no diocesan bishop of our own. During the service there is a moment when you promise obedience as a priest to your ordinary, the Bishop who has chief pastoral care of the diocese, which ministry I am privileged to share in a small way in our parishes. So it was a great blessing to be able to celebrate the installation this week of our new Bishop, Richard Moth. It was a very encouraging service, gathering with clergy and representatives of the whole of the Diocese, as well as his friends and former colleagues in the Military Ordinariate. You will notice that from now on the Eucharistic prayer each week will be a little longer as we are able once again to pray for our Bishop in every celebration of the Mass. He is the chief priest of the Diocese, and, in a sense, every Mass I celebrate with you is a mass where I am standing in for our Bishop who can’t be in every church in the Diocese at the same time. So do listen carefully as we pray the mass and take the opportunity to offer prayer for him in this way.

World Youth Day 2016: Next Summer the Diocese will be taking a group to Krakow, Poland for World Youth Day. It’s an amazing chance to deepen your faith with about 3 million other Catholics from around the globe! WYD lasts for a week. The week ends with a huge vigil with the Pope and then the final Mass the next day!

We’ll be travelling out there by coach and staying in a hotel on the outskirts of the city, not too far from the action. Application packs are available from the Youth Service website www.yaab.co.uk. You can also apply on line, but make sure to download a pack so you get all the info. Feel free to get in touch with Jack if you’ve got any questions (01293 651158 – Jack.Regan@dabnet.org

 Baptisms

Baptism forms are available at the back of both Churches. Parents will need to attend an evening Baptism course. Please return your completed Baptism Form to Deacon John Edwards so that you can be included in the next Course which will take place in June.

PlentyCost Nothing Party – 7th June at 2pm – Ash Centre & Recreation Ground

Why not come along and join us Next Sunday as our Youth Group are down to sing at this event and there will be lots of activities to take part in.

This really is a great way to witness to our faith with other Christians in our area so please do come along with families too – you could make it a picnic day maybe.  Some of you will spot that it is not happening on actual Pentecost Sunday which is today, nevertheless the spirit of the occasion is still to reach out to those who do not have faith or who have slipped away from their faith.

Has anyone got a gazebo to spare?  We have needed these in the past with blazing hot weather. (Gloria Benson)

Plant Sale TODAY to raise funds for the trip to Tanzania this weekend following both Masses which is being held solely to raise funds for the trip to Tanzania by some members of our Youth Group.

Prayer Group: takes place once a month on a Tuesday in St. Mary’s Room at Holy Angels Church at 7.30pm for a 7.45pm start.
Dates of the forthcoming meetings: 9th June, 7th Jul, 8th Sep, 6th Oct, 3rd Nov and 1st Dec.

More Church Cleaners required: Are you able please to spare about an hour of your time to help clean our Church? At the moment we have an insufficient number of people to help, which means the same people are having to clean the Church more frequently, whereas if we could get more people on the Rota, it would only mean giving an hour of your time every 6-8 weeks. Please give this some thought as we really would appreciate more volunteers to help keep our Church looking lovely. (contact Mary Norton on: (01252 714990 if you are able to help) Thank you.

Prayers for the sick

We pray at this time especially for: Deacon David Morgan, Connie Tewkesbury, Jane Brown and Sharon (sister of Marian Grannell) Tina Coleman, Carole Appleton and Louise. Thank you.

PLEASE NOTE: The Parish Office is closed from Monday 1st June and open on Mon. 15th June. Emails will not be responded to during this time but the answer phone is available if you wish to leave a message and will be checked daily. Please contact either Deacon John or Father Robin if you have anything urgent. Thank you.
