Message from Father David

First Holy Communions at Holy Angels Church, Ash.

This Saturday we have our secon session of First Holy Communions.  We offer our congratulations to the children who will be receiving their First Holy Communion this Saturday and we extend a very special welcome to their relatives and friends who have come to be with them and to pray for them.  15% of the collection at the First Holy Communion Mass, besides going to the First Holy Communion Expenses Joint fund for two churches, will go to help the Refugee Children in Syria so today’s special occasion will bring happiness not only to our own First Holy Communion children but also to children in war torn Syria.

First Holy Communion Photos:

If you are a visitor and would like to see the photos, or have relatives abroad who would like to see them, or perhaps just keep in touch with our parish, the photos will be available on our web sites after Friday, 28th June: www.holyangelsash.org or www.holyfamilyfarnham.org.  Some pictures will also be on our parish facebook sites in due course.

Next Sunday, (30th June) there will be a second collection at both churches for what is called ‘Peter’s Pense’, which is the Pope’s Fund.

Holy Angels’s AGM

The AGM was a very pleasant evening and although the attendance was only small there were some very enjoyable and encouraging visual presentations of different aspects of parish life.  From the reports from our First Holy Communion, Altar Servers, Confirmation, Youth Group and Children’s Liturgy we were able to see that our parish has a vibrant pastoral life and there is a lot we can be thankful and proud of.  Thanks were also expressed for those who look after the Sacristy, the Church cleaning group, the flowers, the APF and CAFOD and for the various very successful social events that we have had during the year.  The Finance team was also thanked for the work they do quietly behind the scenes and we were pleased to hear that despite the current financial problems for families at this time support for the church and the various charities we support was holding up well.  Comments was also made about the very significant increase in children at Mass – especially the 11am Sunday Mass and the statistics showed that there had been an increase in Baptisms.  The shortage of places available for children from Holy Angels at Catholic Schools was mentioned.  Thanks were also expressed to Paul for his work with the 200 Club and the support the Club had given to projects in the Parish.  (The 200 Club is a bit like the Premium Bonds – an initial investment entitles you to regular entries in a draw with cash prizes).  As some of the original longstanding members of the club had sadly died there are now vacancies for new members from Holy Angels and Holy Family.  Membership of the 200 Club Draw can make a great birthday or wedding present and a special ‘Gift presentation Membership Certificate’ can be provided by the parish office for those who wish to give membership of the draw as a gift to someone on a special occasion.  There have been a significant number of requests for weddings at both Holy Angels and Holy Family Churches by people who live in London.  This is because they have booked a local hotel or Country House for their reception.  Father David said that providing either the Bride or the Groom was a practicing Catholic and was referred to us by their own parish priest we would be happy to host the wedding, however they would be expected to make an appropriate donation for the upkeep tand maintenance of the Church.  Tim Flesher was thanked for chairing a very successful meeting.
