Dates for your Diary

Advent Lunch – Holy Family: Friday 26th October at 12.30pm – Lovely warming soup for the winter and rolls and cheese
We will now give the proceeds of our Advent Lunch to Mary’s Meals.  A short video of their work will be shown after the lunch for parishioners to see how their money will be spent.

Details of the Mary’s Meals “backpack” initiative will be on view at the Advent lunch, and also at the back of the churches.                                                                           We are also doing “backpacks” for Mary’s Meals this year at Christmas time at both Churches instead of Samaritan’s Purse, and would ask parishioners to support us in this worthy charity, as you have done in the past for the Christmas Shoebox Appeal, and latterly the Foodbank Appeal.

Thank you all very much in anticipation of a super lunch and super backpack collection.

Ashes Good Neighbour’s scheme:

The Ash Good Neighbour Scheme is now ready to launch.

We are a group of volunteers who wish to offer our time to assist residents in Ash and Ash Vale who have difficulty with transport to the Doctors or the hospital and shopping or we could pop in for a cup of tea and a chat.

Through the success of our last three coffee mornings and with the generous support of Vale Furnishers, we are now able to launch our scheme in early November. We will be distributing information about the scheme throughout Ash and Ash Vale soon.

If you are interested in finding out more about us or know someone who could benefit from our assistance

Please telephone 07790 457632.

Father David’s News

Diocese of Arundel & Brighton Jubilee Preparations Autumn 2012

For six weeks we will be meeting to discuss the Vatican Council Document about Liturgy, Worship and the Sacraments – especially the Mass and perhaps looking at what we do and asking if we could do it better.  You are welcome to attend any of the discussion groups at any time.  So if you can only make a couple on different days, please feel free to “pick and mix” although it would be better if you can choose the same day each week.  On the seventh week each group may have a “pot lunch” supper. (sandwiches and sausage rolls etc) as a social to complete the session.

Mondays at Holy Family Church Hall beginning on 21st October 2012 at 7.30pm

Wednesdays at Home of Gloria Craven (Tel: 01252 321609) beginning on 23rd October at 7.30pm

Thursdays at Holy Family Church Hall – after the 7.30pm Mass (8pm) beginning on 24th October.

Fridays at Holy Angels Church Hall beginning on 24th October at 7.30pm

Lists are available at the back of both Churches today for you to sign if you are able to come, so we have some idea of how many people to provide literature for.

For those who want to do some pre-reading one source will be Documents of Vatican 2 (Document of the Sacred Liturgy – Worship)

Notes will be available and there will be a CD presentation to prepare us for the discussion.

These discussions will also incorporate our reflections on Pope Benedict’s “Year of Faith” including a Penitential (Reconciliation) service and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament for Vocations to the Priesthood and Deaconate.

School References:  Father David signs Admission forms or writes references for seven Catholic Schools (both junior and senior) each of which has its own regulations and conditions.  This is why if you attend Mass regularly at Holy Angels or Holy Family you need to be registered and ask for a Parish request form for a reference and return it with a copy of the Baptismal Certificate and the name of the School the reference is for.

Prayer Requests: Please remember in your prayers Deacon John’s son, Robert who is ill and his family. Also we pray for the parents and family of little April Jones.
