PRAYER FOR PEACE
 for Syria, Egypt and the World
(To be said by all at Mass before the sign of Peace)

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is discord, union;
Where this is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy,
for your mercy and truth’s sake.
O Lord Jesus Christ, as we think of Egypt and Syria at this time, may Peace replace anger and bitterness in Our World today and may all seek to become instruments of your Peace now and forever. Amen

Bernard Berry (RIP)
It is with great sadness that we have to announce to Parishioners at Holy Angels that Bernard Berry has sadly passed away after a long illness.

Bernard will be sadly missed having been a Parishioner at Holy Angels for a great many years. Please remember Rita, Bernard’s wife and his family in your prayers at this sad time and may Bernard rest in peace.

Funeral: Bernard’s funeral will take place at Holy Angels Church on Monday, 30th September at 11.00am followed by a burial at Ash Cemetery.  (Rita has asked that rather than flowers, if people would like to make a donation to The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham this would have been what Bernard would have wanted having worked at the Hospice himself for a while.

Information

Short update from Father Paul Dzwig in Guernsey
(Email sent Saturday, 7th September)

I arrived yesterday evening and Canon Michael was at the port to meet me. I slept most of the way over having promised myself a really large ‘all-day breakfast’, which I thoroughly enjoyed!

The church of Saint Joseph is a magnificent building and I’m due to say my first Mass there, this evening at 6.30. A Polish priest, Fr. Stan is here, and has been showing me some of the ropes this morning. He will be leaving shortly to take up his new appointment in Southampton. The island looks magnificent and the people are very friendly and welcoming. I discovered two French-speaking islanders at the school I visited today. Thanks to Father Michael’s secretaries, it only took a couple of moments to get my iPad up and running. First impressions of my new parish are excellent.
God bless.              As ever, Fr. Paul.

A Prayer for the sick

Jesus our Healer, we place in your gentle hands those who are sick.
Ease their pain, and heal the damage done to them in body, mind or spirit.
Be present to them through the support of friends and in the care of doctors and nurses, and fill them with the warmth of your love now and always.  Amen

WELCOME BACK FATHER DAVID:  We trust that Father David has had a well deserved rest and has returned feeling refreshed in mind, body and spirit.
