Justice and Peace Team

Advent Lunch: Thank you to all who attended the Advent Lunch on Friday.  It was a great success and donations from those who attended, proceeds from the raffle, and donations from those who couldn’t attend meant we raised a magnificent £200 towards the Philippine’s disaster.  Thank you all so much.

Also all back packs are ready to be sent off to Mary’s Meals and (together with backpacks from Plymouth Brethren Focus School at Hindhead) we have been able to send off 75 backpacks absolutely amazing!

Thank you to all those kind souls who made such an effort to help others in need. A truly Christian accomplishment.

Philappines Aid for Typhoon Victims:
The amount raised on Saturday, 14th December at the Curry Supper was £465.  It was an amazing turn out and Elena and Stuart Parsons from Holy Angels along with all those helping on the night would like to say a Very Big Thank you to all those who came along on the night and all those who bought tickets.  Everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy the food and had a very enjoyable evening.  The total amount raised for Aid to the Philappines combined with the amount raised by Holy Family is a grand total of £665.00

Youth:  This weekend will be the last chance to ‘Guess the number of sweets in the jar at both Churches. There are two jars one for each Church so the estimates will be different.  Many thanks Two Churches Youth Club.

Father David Message

Countdown to Christmas – 4th Sunday of Advent

This Sunday we light the fourth and final candle on the Advent Wreath.  As we do so we reflect on how the news of the coming birth of Jesus spread from the Angel Gabriel telling Mary (when we lit our first candle) and prayed for our Mothers; to Joseph when we lit our second candle and prayed for Fathers; to Elizabeth and the wise men when we lit our third candle and prayed for our relatives and those who will be away from their homes at Christmas.  Today as we light our fourth candle, we remember the Angel telling the Shepherds and we pray for all in the town or village where we live.

A very special word of thanks to those who have been thinking of those who need help this Christmas and have organised the Advent Lunch at Holy Family and the ‘Eat wall you can Supper’ at Holy Angels.  Both event for aid for the Philippines.  Thank you also to those who organised and helped with the wonderful Carol Service on Thursday in aid of Child Refugees from the Syrian War.
