Vocation Matters

Today we celebrate our Festival50 jubilee!  In the last 50 years so many priests and Religious have given themselves unstintingly for the work of the Gospel in A&B.  Equally, many lay men, women and children – all in response to their baptismal call to holiness – have sought to authentically live-out their vocation as sons and daughters of God.  We have lots for which to give thanks.  Let’s pray, too, that many more will be generous in responding to a call from the Lord, especially to priesthood.

Youth: Our Youth Group leaders and six of our young people are spending three weeks in Tanzania this summer helping at the Karibu Nyumbani orphanage.

Thank you to all the parishioners for the continued support for fundraising for the trip to Tanzania. We have now set up a golden giving page, so if anyone wants to donate to the orphanage before we go, they can do so through that. http://www.goldengiving.com/f/helping-hands-for-tanzania
We are still collecting good 2nd hand shoes, clothes, story books (not too heavy) games, pencils etc to take out with us.

Children’s ages are as follows
5 boys, 3 @ 6yrs and 2 @ 4yrs 4girls about 5 – 6 years and 3 about 2-3 years and one 7 months.

Please keep us all in your prayers.

A prayer from Laudato Si

All-powerful God, you are present in the whole universe
and in the smallest of your creatures.
You embrace with your tenderness all that exists.
Pour out upon us the power of your love,
hat we may protect life and beauty.
Fill us with peace, that we may live
as brothers and sisters, harming no one.
O God of the poor,
help us to rescue the abandoned and forgotten of this earth,
so precious in your eyes.
Bring healing to our lives,
that we may protect the world and not prey on it,
that we may sow beauty, not pollution and destruction.
Touch the hearts
of those who look only for gain
at the expense of the poor and the earth.
Teach us to discover the worth of each thing,
to be filled with awe and contemplation,
to recognize that we are profoundly united
with every creature
as we journey towards your infinite light.
We thank you for being with us each day.
Encourage us, we pray, in our struggle
for justice, love and peace.

Thank you and Goodbye from Rita

Well today is the day, Tuesday, 30th June. This is the beginning of the rest of my life. A new chapter. I can’t quite believe that I am actually retiring from work today and I can’t quite believe that I am that age when people retire as only old people retire!

All joking aside and forgive me if I am repeating myself, but it is from the heart, the last six years have been the happiest in the whole of my working life. They have been six truly enriched years during which time I have had the privilege to have shared in many of your lives, through the joy of a new baby and preparing for their Baptism, the sadness at the loss of a loved one and the joy of sharing in the preparations of a couples wedding day. I have also attended Holy Mass here at Holy Angels every Wednesday during which time I have made some life long friends who I will be keeping in touch with.

Although the time working with Father Robin has only been short, I can honestly say that we have worked well together as a team and I am glad that I have at least been able to help him, albeit briefly, to settle into his new role as your Parish Priest.

I will continue to pray for both Father Robin and Caroline as she takes over my role as your Parish Secretary. You now have a much younger blonde to look after you!

Many thanks to all those who so generously donated to my leaving gift for which I am most grateful and also for the many cards and individual gifts that people have given me. Finally, thank you all for the love and support you have bestowed on me over the last six years. May God Bless you all.                       Rita x
