Diocesan Events

Encounter Evening for Young Catholics

The ENCOUNTER programme exists to give young Catholics a way to engage with their faith and to make new friends. Everybody is welcome, especially if you haven’t been before! The evenings follow a simple format: live music, Praise & Worship, Adoration, social time and a great talk. There are also drinks and snacks available. The guest speaker for the January evening will be Maria Rodrigues from Premier Christian Radio. Come along to St Wilfrid’s School, Crawley (RH118PG), Friday January 29th, 7pm to 9pm. For more information contact jlkpregan@gmail.com or search “Two:42 Young Adults” on Facebook.

Annual Justice & Peace Assembly: Saturday 16 January from 10am at DABCEC, 4 Southgate Drive, Crawley RH10 6RP with Bishop Richard and John Battle, former MP and Government Minister on ‘What does it mean to be a poor Church for the Poor?’ – “A summons to solidarity and a preferential option for the poorest of our brothers and sisters” (Laudato Si). For more information and to book visit the Diocesan website.

Evenings of Reflection for Young People with Bishop Richard: As part of the Diocesan celebrations for the Year of Mercy, Bishop Richard is inviting young people to join him for an evening of reflection. There will be two evenings – one for groups from Sussex and another for those from Surrey. The Sussex evening will be on Saturday February 24th at St Paul’s Catholic College, Burgess Hill, 6pm to 9pm. The Surrey evening will be on Sunday April 24th at Christ the Prince of Peace Church, Weybridge, again 6pm to 9pm.

The evenings will include an experience of Lectio Divina led by Bishop Richard and further reflections on what it means to live out our call as baptised Catholics in the modern world. There will be live music as well as stalls and interactive activities.

We expect that young people coming will be coming as part of an organised group with a responsible adult, however young people who want to come along by themselves are invited to get in touch with Jack Regan at DABCEC.

Full details (including a Risk Assessment and programme) will be available shortly at yaab.co.uk

Internship with the Pastoral Team at Dabcec: An internship for a maximum period of one year working with the advisers on different initiatives and will include a range of duties and administrative work.

This opportunity is for those with an interest in pastoral work within the Church or who wish to develop and evidence work-place skills and who may be waiting for places at university or longer-term work opportunities.

This internship scheme builds on two recent successful experiences and is designed both to assist the Pastoral Team in its work but also to ensure that participants receive a valuable and rewarding experience, with benefits for their personal and professional development.

For further details of terms, conditions and remuneration, please contact Deacon Andrew Bayes, Pastoral Team Coordinator at Dabcec or via email: andrew.bayes@dabnet.org
