Lent

Lent is only a month away so we are already beginning to think about Lent groups. We have usually run one at Holy Family, but in recent years we haven’t had one at Holy Angels. If you would be interested in attending a group at Holy Angels please could you let us know.

Prayer for a new Bishop

Heavenly Father look with mercy on your people,
and grant us a new shepherd.
Help those who choose our Bishop to listen
to the voice and guidance of your Holy Spirit
and to act for the good of your Holy Church.
Father, we ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God for ever and ever.Amen

Prayer Requests for the sick:

Deacon David Morgan, Newton Abrew, Michael Brandon, Patrick Quinn, Maureen Cosgrove, Sean Flynn, Connie Tewkesbury and Paul Tremlett

Holy Angels

Part of our safeguarding policy is that on the Sundays we have Children’s Liturgy provision at Holy Angels the only people who should be in St Mary’s Room during the liturgy are the liturgy leaders, and any parents accompanying their own children. Ideally the children’s liturgy provision is aimed at children from 4 years up to the reception of First Holy Communion, so once they are used to going they should be able to be left so that as parents you can participate in the mass more fully. Obviously there is a little flexibility with younger siblings etc. It would really help us make the best provision we can for our children if we allow them this space on the first and third Sundays of the month. On those Sundays if you need to take your child out of the service at all please could you use the Foyer area.

Women’s World Day of Prayer – Friday, 6th March

Catherine Hirst, Representative for St. Peter’s Church, Ash is organising a meeting for the representatives from Ash and Tongham. This is due to be held on Thursday, 5th February at 8pm in St. Peter’s Hall. As our previous representative will be on holiday at this time we are looking for someone from Holy Angels Parish to kindly offer to attend on our behalf. (If you are willing to represent Holy Angels at this meeting, please kindly either let Deacon Robin or Rita know as soon as possible so that we can let Catherine know the name of our Church Representative). Many thanks

You should already have the date in your Diary for our Diocesan Golden Jubilee celebration which will take place on Sunday, 5th July at the Amex Stadium in Brighton.

Message from Deacon Robin Farrow

It’s been a great privilege to begin this year with you all and gain to get to know people over the last couple of weeks. I’m very aware however that I don’t know many of you very well yet and it would be a great help if you could either let me know directly or contact the parish office or Deacon John if you are aware of someone who would appreciate a visit. You will also be aware that if you would like to have your name put on the newsletter under ‘prayers for the sick’ you only have to ask.

A couple of people have also shared with me that they might want to explore whether they wanted to become Catholic. As a convert myself this is something that is very close to my heart. If there is anyone who is wanting to explore the possibility of becoming a catholic it would again be very helpful if you could speak to myself, Deacon John or the parish office, so we can see if its the right time to put on a course.
