 Children’s Liturgy Winter Party – 24th Nov. 2013

Last year the Children’s Liturgy Group held a most successful party at Holy Angels for our children from both Parishes. This year we would like to repeat the experience.  We would like to spend some time with the children, as we await the arrival of Jesus, and prepare to celebrate Christmas – and of course have lots of fun in the process!
We would ask that each child brings with them a wrapped gift to the value of £1, as we will be having a ‘Secret Santa’ style exchange of gifts at the end of the party. Sign up sheets are available now in the church porch, or you can e-mail your child’s name, and age to Bec Newey: johnandbec@ntlworld.com
Please sign up by Sunday 17th November

At Holy Angels we remember the men and women of Ash, Ash Vale, Ash Green, Tongham, Normany and Wanborough.
At Holy Family we remember the men and women of Heath End, Hale, Weyborne, Badshot Lea and Farnham.
“May we never take for granted the Peace that those who died in the dark days of war and conflict longed to see”. Amen
Women’s World Day of Prayer Team: Holy Angels has both supported and hosted Women’s World Day of Prayer well in past years.  We hope to keep up the good tradition.  Any ladies who would like to join the Holy Angels WWDP Group are invited to contact Colleen Rutter or Rita in the Parish Office.  If the ladies of the Parish would like a regular monthly Ladies Group, please see or call Rita in the Parish Office.

Poppy Poem

The inquisitive mind of a child

Why are we selling poppies, mummy?
Selling poppies in town today
The poppies, child are flowers of love
For the men who marched away.

But why have they chosen a poppy, mummy?
Why not a beautiful rose?
Because my child, men fought and died
In fields where poppies grow.

But why are the poppies so red, mummy?
Why are the poppies so red?
Red is the colour of blood, my child
The blood our soldiers shed.

The heart of the poppy is black mummy
Why does it have to be black?
Black my child, is the symbol of grief
For the men who never came back.

But, why mummy are you crying so?
Your tears are giving you pain
My tears are my fears for you my child
For the world is forgetting again.
